This week’s ICT Radio Show hosted by CFA on 99.3 Nigeria Info FM had an astute technology professional, Idemudia Dima-Okojie as guest and he had so much to share. Read on or better still listen to the full interview here.

It is important for Nigerians to think about how they can increase their productivity in their daily life through the use of technology.

Technology has greatly advanced. Days when getting a simple message would take days are long gone.
Today, not only will a message get to you in seconds, but it can also get to multiple of receivers instantly.
Technology has indeed transformed and simplified our lives.

Technology can indeed boost productivity tremendously. It is an enabler that effectively reduces time and stress leading to better output and productivity.

Practical application of technology can be demonstrated in using the following apps:

  • Dropbox– an online storage tool that avails you access to your data wherever you go. SMEs can benefit from Dropbox by making its data available to all employees who need it on the go.
  • Expensify– a financial and budgeting app that can easily help one track his or her finances. With proper application, it helps one track income and spending.
  • Evernote– helps one store notes in many forms and makes them easily accessible from any location.

Other tools that can be of benefit to SMEs include:

  • HelloFood– which is a local app for busy people where they can order for food that will be delivered to their specified location.
  • WorldMeet– where those who travel a lot can book for travels to interesting sites.
  • GetPocket– which enables very busy business executives to save articles, videos, etc, for reading and viewing later.
  • Trello– is another helpful project management tool that organizations can use to organize their interrelated work.

Remember that even as you use technology, security is a priority. Take necessary precautionary measures including regularly changing your passwords, use of reliable antivirus software and data encryption among others.
