According to reports, there is a likelihood that Apple may shift the much talked about spring event at the end of March which will cause a delay in the launching of the iPhone 9 due to the widespread outbreak of the Covid 19 (coronavirus).
Some few days back, CFAmedia reported that Apple is set to launch the iPhone 9 also known as iPhone SE 2 during its spring event coming up precisely March 31 but according to a source, Apple may delay the launching of the smartphone due to coronavirus outbreak spreading across the world.
The mass production of the smartphone should have started this month end but according to a report in Nikkei Asian Review, it may be postponed until next month.
This report comes at the hill of a report released by Apple stating that it no longer expects to meet the revenue it projected and set to meet up last month for the upcoming first quarter.
The statement read thus: “Work is starting to resume around the country, but we are experiencing a slower return to normal conditions than we had anticipated. As a result, we do not expect to meet the revenue guidance we provided for the March quarter due to two main factors.”
As at now, due to the outbreak of the virus across the world, Apple has issued a statement that the iPhone supply will be temporarily constrained.
“While our iPhone manufacturing partner sites are located outside the Hubei province and while all of these facilities have reopened, they are ramping up more slowly than we had anticipated.” Stressed a spokesperson from Apple.
As at the time of writing this report, we are still not hundred per cent certain if Apple may delay the launching of the iPhone 9 but one thing that we are certain that as long as the outbreak of the Covid 19 spread, it may cause the spring event not to hold as it was first reported this coming March.
