Egyptian semiconductor startup InfiniLink has raised $10 million in seed funding to accelerate the development of its optical connectivity solutions.

The investment will support the company’s efforts to address AI-driven data centers increasing bandwidth and energy efficiency needs.

Founded in 2022, InfiniLink specializes in advanced optical data connectivity chips designed to enhance data transmission efficiency.

As AI workloads and data-intensive applications push the limits of traditional electrical and optical interconnects, there is a growing demand for solutions that improve power consumption and scalability.

InfiniLink has developed Silicon Photonics-based integrated optical transceiver chiplets (iOTC) technology. This innovation enables low-power pluggable transceiver modules and high-bandwidth-density co-packaged optical engines (CPO), essential for high-speed, energy-efficient data center connectivity.

MediaTek, a global fabless semiconductor company, and Saudi-based VC firm Sukna Ventures led the $10 million seed round. Additional investors included Egypt Ventures and M Empire Angels.

The funding will support InfiniLink in advancing its research and development, focusing on leveraging its expertise in Analog Mixed-Signal and Photonics to improve data center connectivity.

Co-founder and CEO Ahmed Aboul-Ella highlighted the collaboration with MediaTek as a key step toward accelerating the commercialization of the company’s optical connectivity solutions.

MediaTek’s senior general manager, George Chien, emphasized the strong relationship between the two companies, noting that the partnership has grown over the past three years and contributed to the establishment of MediaTek Egypt. The investment aims to expand this collaboration further within the region.

Sukna Ventures expressed confidence in InfiniLink’s ability to meet the increasing energy demands of AI-driven data centers.

General partner Waleed Alballaa stated that the startup’s optical connectivity technology aligns with Sukna Ventures’ focus on supporting high-potential startups in the MENA region and expanding their reach globally.

With the backing of its investors, InfiniLink is set to accelerate product development, expand its presence in international markets, and meet the growing demand for AI-driven connectivity solutions.
