Facebook has its own high hanging fruits but personally spending most of your time on LinkedIn is more rewarding.

Meanwhile, this post is not intended to give a comparative analysis on Facebook and LinkedIn. Hence, you have the choice to make, either to post pictures, funny updates on Facebook or start building an authentic captivating profile on LinkedIn to better your life.

Although, there are no doubts that students from different strata of educational institutions spend most of their time on the largest social network, Facebook.

LinkedIn is simply a professional network for matured minds who understand the essence of time management, job seeking strategies and productivity.

After reading through this post, you will understand few of the reasons it’s imperative to start building your reputation on LinkedIn.

My advice for you is that, when your account is activated you have to be mindful of your updates, as that could even be a yardstick for measurement.

Here are some of the reasons, I choose to spend more time on LinkedIn than Facebook.

Landing International Jobs

I have not landed an international job yet but I have been invited for an interview by a social media company in the UK.

Although the time frame was too short coupled with fact that the said company didn’t agree to my personal terms. Hence, why I didn’t land the job overseas.

I Spend my Precious Time Mostly on LinkedIn, not Facebook.

I Spend my Precious Time Mostly on LinkedIn, not Facebook.

But I know there are lots of people who have been employed in foreign countries through LinkedIn.

However, LinkedIn remains a global networking platform to land jobs overseas. You can get a lot of benefits by networking on this social media website. You can connect with all the major international employers and find jobs in foreign countries.

Letting Companies Find You

In developing countries like ours, unemployment has soared and the moment you start letting companies find you, the better.

Factually, a large number of companies spend time on LinkedIn painstakingly looking out for talented graduates. It’s rare to see companies do that on other social social media platforms.

However, if you have created a resounding and well detailed professional profile, the tendencies of a company finding you becomes high. All you need here is to study well on how to have a good profile on LinkedIn and it would be amazing to see companies sending g you invitations for a particular job.

Connecting with Professionals

This is what LinkedIn is solely about, connecting with professionals. I have established some level of synergy with professionals in diverse fields.

LinkedIn

When you connect with these professionals, the unexpected could happen. For instance, you could strike a good business deal, get a job, establish business relationship, etc.

Although, when you take a good look at LinkedIn, you get stunned with the number of professionals, including CEOs of companies from various segments of industry, locally and internationally. The choice is yours to connect with them or not.

However, there are no complications in connecting with all these professionals. All you do is to import your email list to find out who among your friends is present on LinkedIn.

Getting Endorsements and Recommendations

When you are skilled in some areas, you get endorsements, or even recommendations on a particular skill, which a powerful selling point. To put simply, LinkedIn offers a feature through which you can get other people to recommend you.

When you have endorsement, or most importantly recommendations, you have a great chance of attracting the employers’ attention. As a student, you can try to get as many recommendations as possible so as to increase your employability chances.

Conclusion

Stop wasting time on Facebook or Instagram Facebook. It’s high students starts creating their profiles on LinkedIn, and start connecting with professionals.

Don’t take LinkedIn for granted, it’s a professional network and you can easily stay ahead of your competition when it comes to landing a job.
