SheProfitsAfrica Sponsors Female Fellowships to the Founder Institute’s Pre-seed Accelerator Program

The Founder Institute, the world’s largest pre-seed startup accelerator, and SheProfitsAfrica, an organization providing information and opportunities to help women flourish and contribute to creating better societies for all, are announcing 4 female-founder fellowships for the upcoming Founder Institute Lagos 2020 programs.

Stanbic IBTC Founder Institute Lagos aims to inspire and support early-stage female founders by providing:

● Feedback and Mentorship from 95+ top startup leaders including Banke Alawaye, Fayo Williams, Emilia Asim-Ita, Jane Egerton-Idehen, Ommo Clark and Tosin Faniro Dada.

● 4 Female Founder Fellowships awarded to the top female applicants, allowing them to participate in the program for free:

● A Local and Global Support Network of Entrepreneurs, Investors and Advisors

● More than $2M in Partner Deals and Resources

Founders of SheProfitsAfrica, Banke Alawaye and Fayo Williams decried the low level of women in technology quoting the Nigerian Bureau of Statistics figures of just 22% of the total number of Engineering and Technology university graduates each year and stated inter alia:

“From our findings, only about 30 startups in the country have at least one Female founder yet Nigeria has the highest number of female entrepreneurs in the world, according to the BBC.”

Speaking further co-founder of SheProfitsAfrica, Fayo Williams, stated, “that this presents a unique opportunity to coach Female Founders to secure the Founder Institute’s scholarships.”

This partnership is part of Founder Institute’s goal of improving the gender gap in technology worldwide through the Female Founder Initiative

Launched in 2016, the Female Founder Initiative provides support for women founders all over the globe through their funding-focused webinar series, pitch deck feedback opportunities, mentor-led group office hours, monthly newsletter, and global slack channel.

“To improve the gender balance in technology worldwide, we must support female founders at the early-stage to launch, grow and fund their companies. With the generous support of SheProfitsAfrica, we are able to provide 4 female-founded companies the opportunity to leverage the Founder Institute Lagos program and network to advance their company further and faster.” – Rachel Sheppard, Global Marketing Director at the Founder Institute & Co-Creator of the Female Founder Initiative

Any female founder who is interested in the SheProfitsAfrica fellowship can apply to Stanbic IBTC Founder Institute Lagos.
