The Computer Professionals Registration Council of Nigeria (CPN) and National Infomation Technology Development Agency (NITDA) are in collaboration to improve professionalism in the ICT industry, CFAtech understands.
According to Professor Charles Uwadia, at the CPN Media Forum held in Lagos, the issue of instilling professionalism in the ICT industry became a subject during a courtesy last week.
“There was a meeting with NITDA Management and CPN Council members, Elders of the IT Professionals/ Practitioners on Monday, March 19th, 2018.
And it was agreed in the courtesy meeting that NITDA and CPN will collaborate to improve professionalism in Information Technology (IT) in Nigeria,” he said.
Uwadia added that a joint committee of NITDA – CPN was thereafter set up with 5-members from each Agency.
This CPN Media Forum is being held in order to improve on the already established relationship between Council and the Media and foster a mutually beneficial relationship between Council and the media.
Speaking at the Forum, Allwell Achumba, Registrar, CPN expressed gratitude for the working relationship that exists between CPN and the media.
He said the CPN believes that the media is critical to improving the visibility of CPN and highlighting the importance of professionalism in the Information Technology (IT) Industry in Nigeria.
“It has also become imperative to engage the media at the highest level in order to seek support for Council and ensure excellent media coverage, especially towards her forthcoming 25th Anniversary Celebrations.
Since Information Technology (IT) is the fulcrum of any thriving economy which cannot be ignored by the players in that economy, the Council has chosen to focus on this invaluable tool that will propel the economy and prepare the industries for global competitiveness.”
He added that CPN as an Agency of Government that regulates and controls the practice of Information Technology practice in Nigeria is taking the bull by the horn by convoking yet another forum with the media considered to be a major player and influencer in the IT eco system.
