AWIEF Announces Pitch n Grow 2026

I have noticed lots of exciting buzz on the internet concerning the 2017 NITEC, an annual event that will address issues around the future of big data, analytics and it’s application.

Besides, an in-depth look at the quality of speakers to be featured at this year’s NITEC event will serve as a trigger to businesses around the globe to attend.

Personally, the theme is a solid point for Small and Medium Enterprises to participate. The SMEs as we all know provides most of the jobs globally.

This means that NITEC is an event that must be attended for businesses to start understanding the future of big data, analytics, and applications.

Well, for me the future of big data seem bigger than anyone can imagine. In other words, the future looks very bright and appears promising.

I would like to start by quoting Peter Sondergaard, SVP, Gartner Research, “Data is the oil of the 21st century, and analytics is the combustion engine.”

When you consider the rate of technology advancement, you would realize that we are generating quantum of data compared to some years ago.

Certainly, what we have seen in the growth of IoT devices is a key indicator that will produce a large quantum of data, and the effect this increase will majorly contribute to Big data analytics.

Here are some interesting fact about big data:

We perform 40,000 search queries every second on Google alone, 1.2 trillion searches per year.

By 2020, about 1.7 megabytes of new information will be created every second for every human on the planet.

Less than 0.5% of all data we produce is ever analyzed and used.

73% of organizations have already invested or will invest in big data by the end of 2016.

A 10% increase in data accessibility will result in more than $65 million additional net income for the typical Fortune 1000 company.

Google uses about 1,000 computers to answering a single search query

70% of data is created by individuals, but enterprises are responsible for storing and managing 80% of that.

Interestingly, Dipo Faulkner, the Country Manager of IBM, is expected to present a paper on “The interplay of Cloud, Big Data and Analytics for economic transformation”, while Pius Okigbo Jnr, CEO of InfoSoft Nigeria, will also be presenting a paper on “How government policies drive adoption of new technologies” at the NITEC 2017.

Other speakers slated to grace the occasion include Nkem Begho, CEO, Future Software; Afolabi Abiodun, CEO, SB Telecoms & Devices Limited; Charles Emembolu, CEO, Crestage; Kola Aina, Group CEO, Emerging Platforms; Olatorera Oniru, CEO Dressmeoutet.com; Uche Aniche, Founder, VenueHero; Adeoye Abodunrin, Director, Xpos Technologies;

Bolaji Finnih, CEO, TechPreneur Africa; Emeka Okafor, CEO, Connectnigeria.com; Felix Rwang-Dung, CEO, The Hord Inc; Bola Lawal, Co-Founder, ScholarX; Gbemi Akande, Co-Founder, DigitalCity Hub; Oluwatoba Obaniyi, CEO, Whogohost; Chukwuemeka Fred Agbata Jnr, “CFA”, Presenter, Tech Trends on Channels TV.

On a final note, I will advise all the SMEs to attend the NITEC event on Tuesday, July 4, 2017, at Sheraton Hotel Lagos.
