- Organizations need talent mastered in new skills and knowledge
- The World Economic Forum advises governments and businesses to promote more mass skilling courses
It’s no secret that the COVID-19 pandemic accelerated digital transformation worldwide. Businesses from all sectors have changed their processes.
As a result, they have required professionals familiar with automation and emerging technologies, like Artificial Intelligence, Data Analysis, cloud storage, and of course, Cybersecurity.
Technology is advancing quicker every day, but the workforce is not updating itself at the same speed. Artificial Intelligence, for example, is going to create more jobs than it will destroy, according to a recent study by PwC consultants.
Estimates from the World Economic Forum indicate that at least 50% of employees worldwide will need to be trained or retrained in digital skills.
The only solution to take on this global challenge is the development of massive skilling courses that will help prepare more professionals to occupy the so-called “Jobs of the Future” and thereby reduce the digital gap.
Considering this perspective, Elemi Ani, Global Head of Solutions Design and Digital Transformation of elev8 education and technology expert, shares some of the most in-demand fields for labour in 2022.
Data Science
The science which focuses on the study of data. Its mission is to analyze, establish patterns, and extract valuable conclusions for its objectives.
It is now used by many industries, NGOs, banks, and even scientific researchers. When extracting high amounts of data, this science combines statistics, mathematics, and IT to interpret the data. Its main objective is connected to decision-making.
DevOps
This field was born as a connection between programmers and infrastructure managers. Having a solid DevOps team can improve the work environment, improve the final product, increase productivity, and even reduce operating costs.
Cloud Computing
Provides technical services such as servers, critical analyses, network management, databases, information storage, and software through Internet systems.
Programming
Involves developing (or programming) algorithms through different digital products that we need: web pages/mobile apps/computer applications / among others.
There are various languages to choose from depending on the type of development required, including Java, Python, Android, .NET, Javascript, and other less well-known ones, but still needed such as Scala, Kotlin, Ruby, etc.
Product Owner/Scrum Master
The Product Owner oversees maximizing the product’s value through the eyes of an agile team. It was formerly known as a Project Manager or Project Leader.
On the other hand, the Scrum Master serves the Product Owner in various ways but primarily helping them find effective techniques that fit with the project in question.
Education will continue to be fundamental to promote inclusive economic development and thus offer everyone a future full of opportunities.
For the new technologies created during the Fourth Industrial Revolution to empower industries, lifelong learning, and mass skilling initiatives will be essential to guarantee new growth opportunities to thousands of professionals worldwide.
