The recent privacy policy being updated by WhatsApp is sparking off attention and controversies, as users seek better ways to secure their data.

You can stop Facebook from sharing your WhatsApp data

The new privacy policy has given Facebook the permission to share data with WhatsApp accounts since it’s acquisition from Jan Koum, the founder of WhatsApp in 2014.

However, if you’re one of those users that currently do not agree with WhatsApp with its privacy policy. In other words, you don’t want WhatsApp to share your phone with Facebook. I have some hacks for you.

How to stop Facebook from getting your WhatsApp data

Fortunately, you can opt out and remove yourself from the whole situation very quickly. Here’s how:

  • Launch WhatsApp on your smartphone.
  • If you’re on iOS, clip on settings, you can locate that at the lower right corner of your device. As for Android users, find the settings at the upper right corner.

  • Click Account

  • Next, is the checkbox “Share my account info” uncheck this box to remove the permission to do so.

  • Lastly, If you had accepted the new terms without unchecking the “Share my account Info,” then, you have 30 days to change the permission.

However, try to follow the steps I have outlined: Settings -> Account -> Share my account info and uncheck the box.

Finally, the update permission has not been sent to all WhatsApp users yet. By implication, If you are yet to receive that, then you are currently not affected by the changes.
