A few weeks ago, a young man from Alabama in the United States lost his life after he had gone looking for his missing device. He used the Find My Phone tracking feature, that we wrote on sometime last Month. As the young man got to where the phone was and was about to take it from the thief’s car, he got shot and died – sad story indeed!
The reason, this is being shared is because some people might be tempted to use the “Find My Phone” features, that now comes by default in most phones, to actually go searching for their missing devices. The young man’s story serves as a warning to all because a phone can be replaced, but a life cannot.
Here is, therefore, my advice, if you ever track and find a missing device, then, you should do one of the following to further secure your life:
- Wipe your data off the device
- Lock the device, if your model allows
- Report to the police, who are better equipped to confront such potentially dangerous situation. Do not try to be James Bond!
