Google Nairobi Event was one of the remarkable encounters for the Tech Trends crew this year. In this exciting journey to one of the beautiful cities in Africa, we took time to speak to the head of Google communications in Africa and the Middle East, Paul Solomon. The discussion answered the quintessential question of how technology can aid tourism and travel.
There is no doubt that technology currently plays a significant role in tourism. This was crystal clear as Paul used Google services as an example of how travelers and tourist are being empowered by technology. In his description of modern technology as a seamless enabler that makes things easier, Paul also described how language barriers are being broken down, thanks to technology.
In Paul’s words, technology should never get in the way or dominate people’s lives; it should enable people to get the best out of every undertaking. He, therefore, carefully explained why a technophobic shouldn’t shy away from embracing technology. He also talked about how small businesses could potentially benefit from modern technology.
