Facebook currently has over a billion users, so, it is advisable to have a Business page which is specifically created for business purposes. Here are the steps to follow:
1. Sign up on Facebook
You need to have a personal Facebook page first before you will be able to create a business page. Just go to your settings and choose “Create a Page” to begin.
2. Choose a Classification.
Facebook will require that you choose a classification from any of these 6:
- Local Business or Place
- Company, Organization, or Institution
- Brand or Product
- Artist, Band, or Public Figure
- Entertainment
- Cause or Community
Make sure you choose one that is more relevant to your industry. Note that it is at this point that you will be asked to choose a name for your page. Be careful to choose the right name here.
3. Fill the Required Information
Fill it up with information about your company. The whole idea of having a business page is to allow people have more access to your business, so, give as much information as possible and complete the sign-up process.
Facebook is more or less a search engine, maybe not exactly like Google, but it has its own algorithm that ranks pages within the network. Good content on your page might be a factor to rank when people search for stuff related to what you do. Believe it when I tell you that people have landed good deals just by doing this. Make sure you also upload a profile photo that will attract visitors to your page.
4. Finally, Share your Business Page
Many have complained about how they have created Facebook pages and nothing came out of it. When asked how often they shared their pages, they often reply that they’ve never shared it! Let me tell you a secret. Always learn to fall back on your immediate inner circle such as family and friends. Share with them whenever you do stuff on Facebook – beg, cajole and even threaten them to like your new page. You can then move on to strangers.
