CBO Investment Management has awarded $2500 in seed-funding to three IT entrepreneurs, following Nigeria’s vision to allocate funds and produce capital for small business.
CBO Investment Management is an Investment Manager targeted at offering advice on investments, and managing funds on behalf of private clients, institutions, retail investors and Africans in Diaspora.
Speaking during the presentation of the cheques to the runners-up, Mr. Chuka Mordi, Director at CBO Investment Management said that supporting start-ups in the early stages is a way to help them focus on other important sectors that are resourceful for the development and success of their businesses, noting that the early stages of any business is completely important for capitalists.
The cheques was presented at the CBO head office in Lagos, Nigeria.
The entrepreneurs emerged as victors and runners-up at the Entrepreneurs Pitching Contest organized by the British Council Industries Expo held in Lagos, Nigeria.
The event saw the finalists take investment guidance, comments and questions from the CBO Investment Management team, and display live demonstrations of their sites and online portals.
The winner at the contest was Suleiman Teslim Olalekan, creator of Shopinfo.co.ng, a mobile app, which enables shoppers find goods in local stores, compare prices and check stock availability.
David Ugoagbara and Ayodele Elegbe were the two runners-up, founders of Priceleakers.com, an online marketplace for building materials and Comicpanel.org, an online hub for comics and related industries, respectively.
Speaking at the event, Nkiru Asika, Chief Executive Officer of Enterprise Creative, said that they incorporated a pitching contest to create a platform for partners, sponsors and mentors to support and nurture the hidden talents among Nigeria’s creative and Digital entrepreneurs.
Responding to questions from the entrepreneurs and offering investment advice to them, Mr. Bex Nwawudu, of CBO Investment Management, urged entrepreneurs to invent, monetize, and build bright ideas into initiatives that will grow and improve African economy, adding that at CBO they are dedicated to raise funds for small businesses.
Nkiru Asika also noted, “We are delighted that CBO Investment Management recognized the value in this program and stepped up to support the next generation of entrepreneurs.”
