Facebook’s messaging app, WhatsApp has rolled out a shopping button that will enable users to check out catalogs of businesses on its platform.
This new button will replace the present call button and it will get featured directly on the user’s chat screen to make shopping on WhatsApp more convenient.
In September, WhatsApp appeared to have added a shopping button to support businesses in showcasing their products and services through the Facebook-owned platform.
Initially, the feature was present on Android’s WhatsApp beta version. Moving forward, the feature is now heading to all WhatsApp users on Android and IOS globally.
Alongside the shopping button, which appears like a store icon, users can look at their preferred business catalogs on their chat screen.
This new button can be found next to the recent call button, replacing the current voice call button. Previously, users had to click on specific business profiles to view if the selected item had the product or service they prefer.
Users will be able to see the shopping button on the screen with a catalog of their business offerings, on the flip-side, users will not be able to view the newly added button while making communication with families and friends.
Last November, the WhatsApp Business app allowed SMEs to display their products and services to users through its catalog feature.
Businesses with a setup catalog will now have their shopping button viewable on their chat screen.
Even as the shopping button has replaced the voice call for business chats, users can still find it by clicking the voice call button. This will give users the option of either selecting to make a video or voice call.
This new shopping button is one of WhatsApp major steps in expanding its business space on the app to make it a complete e-commerce platform
