WhatsApp has been discovered to be experimenting with a status reply marker that will alert users when their statuses are replied to.
The feature is claimed to be under construction and not yet ready to beta testers, but it is expected to become accessible to users on Android, iOS, and PC in the future.
In conjunction with the status reply indicator, WhatsApp is rumored to be adding the ability to create a cover picture when using the messaging software on a computer.
WhatsApp beta tracker, WABetaInfo reports that the messaging platform is creating the status reply indicator to make it easier for users to see when their contacts have replied to a recent status update.
On the Chats screen, the indicator distinguishes between a status reply and general message reply.
WABetaInfo has provided a screenshot of the indicator’s appearance. Though the functionality is likely to be accessible to beta testers on Android and iOS in the near future, the screenshot is reported to have come from a recent Desktop beta version.
WhatsApp has been observed to give the ability for business users to upload cover photographs to their company’s profile while using its desktop version, in addition to the status reply indicator.
In a second report, WABetaInfo stated that the function to set up cover photographs on WhatsApp for Desktop beta has been in the works.
Businesses will be able to have their own cover photo, similar to how Facebook allows consumers to have different covers on their pages and profiles.
The instant messaging app was found working on allowing businesses to post cover photographs to WhatsApp Business for iOS in February.
In the future, users of WhatsApp Business for Android should be able to access the service.
