According to a report released by the US Department of Energy, (DOE) officials, an un-hackable internet that will prove extra difficult for hackers to exploit, is soon to get unveiled in the nearest future.
According to the officials, this new un-hackable internet is made possible, via the breakthrough of quantum computing technology. Some experts have said that it has the power of breaking blockchain.
During a presentation by the team from the Department of Energy, (DOE), assigned to develop this innovation, an updated outline that contains the blueprint.
For the development of a national quantum Internet, using laws of quantum mechanics, to transmit information, more freely and securely, than on every presently existing networks.
The Energy Department released a statement saying, “One of the hallmarks of quantum transmissions is that. they are exceedingly difficult to eavesdrop on, as information passes between locations,
“Scientists plan to use that trait to make, virtually, un-hackable networks”, it read.
The team further stated that, sectors that might likely come as the first to adopt this innovation, will be the banking and health services sectors, because, they deal with highly sensitive pieces of information.
However, there is a high probability that, it might get applied for national security and aircraft communications, soonest.
“Eventually, the use of quantum networking technology in mobile phones could have broad impacts, on the lives of individuals around the world”, the statement read.
Speaking also, on this development is Professor David Awschalom, University of Chicago and Senior Scientist at Argonne National Laboratory.
“The foundation of quantum networks, rests on our ability to, precisely, synthesize and manipulate matter, at the atomic scale, including the control of single photons”, he stated.
If this innovation eventually becomes achievable, the issues of cybersecurity, will greatly reduce, as people will become free to carry out and go about their businesses safer on the internet.
