Wellness is said to be the process of being in optimal health. This constitutes deliberate lifestyles and activities that are aimed at better health and physical conditions.

These conditions consist of physical, emotional, mental, spiritual, environmental, and social components that are actively worked towards.

The physical component is working towards achieving a healthy and fit body through exercises, dieting, and anything that helps one stay in shape.

Mental development could be done by engaging in mental exercises such as solving puzzles, learning, and trying out new things among other mental activities.

There are various wellness startups in Africa, however below are the top five wellness startups in Africa that are doing well in the space:

Massira

Situated in Ghana, Massira was Founded in 2019, the wellness startup caters specifically to women. It avails them the opportunity to safely discuss Mental, Sexual, and Reproductive Health.

Massira builds a community of females, where support, education, and empowerment are provided for them.

The females are taught to embrace their sexual and reproductive life while also ensuring that they get early medical attention when needed.

Chefaa

This wellness startup helps patients to access pharmacies that are within their vicinity. Founded in 2017, Chefaa is situated in Cairo, Egypt.

Chefaa also runs an e-store where one can easily order their medicinal, cosmetics, and personal care products.

HearX Group

This wellness startup focuses on providing hearing health solutions digitally. Founded by professor De Wet Swanepoel and Dr. Herman Myburgh in 2015.

HearX Group is located in Pretoria, South Africa. HearX Group provides hearing screening through an app.

When a problem is detected by the app, the patient is then referred to an audiologist for treatment and proper care.

PuraSoda

This wellness startup was founded in 2015 and is located in South Africa. The startup produces a healthier soda drink that has no sugar rushes or artificial sweeteners.

This makes it easier for people to take soda while still dieting or general maintenance of a healthy lifestyle. The PuraSoda can be ordered online and shipped to any location.

MoringaConnect

This startup was founded by Kwami Williams and Emily Cunningham in 2014. MoringaConnect is situated in Ghana.

All the products of the startup are made from the Moringa tree which has a lot of nutritional value from the leaves down to the seed.

The seeds of the Moringa tree contain oil that is used for moisturization of hair and skin, while the leaves have a high protein content.
