OfferZen has secured €4.5 million ($5.07 million) in Series A funding from Base Capital, a South African investment company.
OfferZen is a South African tech talent marketplace meeting the growing global demand for tech workers.
Philip Joubert, Brett Jones & Malan Joubert founded the company in 2015 and are only just receiving their first seed funding.
As a tech marketplace, software developers and engineers can sign up and get curated as candidates on OfferZen who then makes them available to companies.
OfferZen guarantees that developers will get contacted by different companies provided they are live on the marketplace for four weeks, the company said.
Operating solely in South Africa for almost five years, OfferZen expanded its operations to the Netherlands in April 2020 after acquiring an Amsterdam-based recruitment tech startup called TryCatch.
According to Philip Joubert, CEO OfferZen, more than 1,000 companies and 100,000 software developers use the tech talent marketplace.
Most of its customers are concentrated in the Netherlands, South Africa and some parts of Europe like the U.K. and Germany, which are prominent centers for global talent.
In a statement made by the CEO, “In the first half of 2020, due to COVID, tech hiring came to a near standstill. However, since then, we’ve seen a huge acceleration in the market as companies are now generating far more capital than they were pre-pandemic, hiring much faster, and making more investments in technology.”
The company is focused on building a developer community through various channels including events and that’s what sets OfferZen apart from players like Honeypot and Talent.io, said Joubert.
He added that they have a solid user base with very high-quality developers in the developer community. So we’re very well known for investing a lot in the community.
We have a lot of candidates on our platform so we try to simplify our sourcing process, making it easy for companies to find the most relevant candidates. Through our sophisticated matching engine, companies get to see suitable candidates for a particular position.
The company said OfferZen’s tech community will receive bulk of the funding. In addition, a chunk of the money will also go into growing its operations, growth teams, and products as it plans to expand its operations to Europe.
