Acumen Software, a workforce and asset management startup in South Africa, has raised a funding round for My Smart City from Imvelo – an independent venture that identifies and funds South African small and medium-sized fintech enterprises.

My Smart City is a mobile and desktop-based platform that enables city residents report and track service delivery issues, raise petitions, mobilize community members, communicate with local officials, etc.

Phase One of the platform is only accessible to Johannesburg and Cape Town for now.

Speaking on the raised fund, Joao Zoio, Chief Executive Officer and Co-founder of Acumen Software said:

“My Smart City is giving South Africans a voice to see the resolution of service delivery issues and to allow them to view issues and log incidents, prioritize them and connect the right service providers to resolve them.

We believe that the platform has the potential to Uber-ise service delivery by putting the power in the hands of the residents who use the platform. In time, the platform will also create jobs for thousands of citizens and private contractors,”

The Executive Director of Imvelo, Anton Baumann, said the firm’s investment in the platform was supporting disruptive technology, an innovation by a passionate and highly experienced team.

“There is a real need for this kind of technology to improve South Africans lives’ for the better by cutting-edge innovation,” Anton Baumann added
