I do not know if you have noticed, but there is indeed an increase in the amount of spam friend requests on Social Media sites which includes Facebook and it keeps growing. With the way things are, it is safer for you to accept friend requests from only people you know or people you want to get to know, except of course, you are sure of what you are doing.

Step 1: Sign into your Facebook account
Step 2: Click on the down arrow found on the upper right corner of the page and Select settings
Step 3: Click on “Privacy,” and this will take you to the Privacy Settings.
On this page you can specify who will see your future posts, limit the audience of posts you have already shared, and more. Your focus, however, should be on the “Who can contact me?” settings. There is a question as to who can send you friend requests, and it is strongly suggested that you change it to “Friends of Friends.” These simple steps should deal with a lot of those spam requests.
