One productivity tool that aids my tasks is Evernote. It is one of the pre-installed apps on Blackberry 10. It has been on my cherished BB10 for over two years.
The clear cut understanding of how Evernote works was just lacking. The usefulness of this productive tool misses until I joined Techsmart. Although, the BB10 has limitations. To maximize its value, Evernote has to be run on an Android phone
Getting this Productive Tool Installed
I had another phone in my possession, Infinix Hot 3, an Android Lollipop-powered phone. The first thing, I did was to download Evernote, one of the productive tools that I need if am to excel in my task.
Sadly, after downloading, it falls to install. I deleted, downloaded again and reinstalled. It was still the same issue having repeated the same process of downloading and re-installing for over six times.
I consumed over 200 MB worth of data just to get this App running? What’s even unique about this app, I exclaimed.
As a solution to getting this app installed, I had two options left. It is either I do the restore factory settings, or I get the phone flashed?
I started with the first option which is to erase all my data manually (restore factory settings). I downloaded Evernote, and it fails to install again.
Obviously, my Infinix Hot 3 got flashed, as someone who is keen to exploring technology. I should have flashed the phone, but I didn’t have the software.
To cut it short, I download my productive tool, but it didn’t install. This time, I didn’t exclaim “what’s so special about this App, because I already know what makes it unique. I exclaimed “what else will I try.”
The thought of “One Note” developed by Microsoft and the closest rival of Evernote. The App was downloaded but failed to install. Oh my God! The same issue?
Infinix Android Lollipop 5.0
Frankly, my curiosity became intensified. It was imperative for me to identify the Peter that was robbing me to pay Paul.
After series of findings, it became evident that Infinix smartphone that runs on Lollipop 5.0 Operating System cannot install Evernote.
To further elaborate this, Lollipop Powered Infinix Hot 3 smartphones, fails to update Facebook, and download a few other Apps.
After these findings, I thought it was needful to get another smartphone, so as to get this Productive App running.
Switching from MS Word to Evernote
I just need the help of a wordsmith to help me define the inevitability of this productive tool.
It is not always easy to change from habits that had been formed over years. I have been using Microsoft Word to type and send stories as a journalist.
That orientation changed when I became a Techsmart team member. I needed to adapt to CFA’s style, just like Paul Pogba needed to adjust to ELP style of playing.
It took me time, at the preliminary stage, I don’t remember to launch Evernote App on my PC. Unintentionally, I just find myself typing on MS Word. It was possible, but just took time. I use Evernote every day.
Why Evernote?
Evernote is a full cloud-based note service that supports notes from a variety of sources.
All my notes could be typed, handwritten or even photos and PDF, and it’s all fully searchable.
For instance, if you start typing a project on your PC, and your PC goes off. You can continue from your smartphone, in as much as Evernote is installed.
I can create notebooks to organize my collections, and share and collaborate on projects with other Techsmart team members.
The good filing system is enhanced with this productive tool running on your device. There is no way; you will find it difficult to track a file.
My Limitations of Evernote
What I have listed under “Why Evernote” is just a tip of the iceberg. From my findings Evernote is just more than getting organized, sharing files, and projects.
I am yet to understand the tag features, Web clipping functions, linking and a whole lot of them.
I can vehemently say that users just scratch the surface of Evernote. When you dig deeper, Evernote becomes your productive tool ever.
Conclusion
Evernote is not just one of the best note apps for Android; it’s one of the best productivity tools of any kind.
