To ensure quick and easy payment of relevant charges, the government of Ogun State has urged its people to explore the options of Remita and Xpressway online platforms in other to avoid their property getting sealed.
The Ogun State government has planned to bring to book defaulters of the state’s Land Use and Amenities Charge (LUAC) after it has empowered the state’s task force to commence enforcement on both industrial and commercial properties in Ogun State.
Mr. Dapo Okubadejo, Ogun State’s Commissioner for Finance while speaking in the state capital at Abeokuta emphasized that necessary actions will be enforced against property owners who fail to comply with the LUAC payment.
The Commissioner further stated that it is easy and convenient for property owners to make their payments online through the state payment portal while using the payment code present on their bills.
According to Dapo, payments can also be done with the same payment code through Remita and Xpresspay platforms at any commercial bank in Nigeria.
The Commissioner explicitly stated that LUAC doesn’t have any accredited agent, thus payments should be made via the designated platforms.
He added that payments are not to be made to the enforcement unit either as a group or individual.
From Friday, October 1, 2021, the Ogun State government will commence the enforcement, with strict compliance to seal up properties of defaulters.
The Commissioner noted that the LUAC bills aim to generate revenue for the Ogun State government to provide necessary amenities for its people and make the state business-friendly.
“It will also help to bring development closer to the grassroots as a certain percentage of the amount generated goes to the local governments in the state.”
Dapo urged the people of Ogun State to with landed properties to pay up their LUAC bills while they allow the enforcement team to carry out their operations.
