Startups with creative solutions that assist tackle the ocean’s overused, contamination, or climate change concerns are encouraged to apply for the OceanHub Africa accelerator program’s third cohort.
OceanHub Africa, based in Cape Town, has backed 16 African ocean-focused startups in diverse fields of the Blue Economy, including aquaculture, fisheries, shipbuilding, marine renewables and biotechnologies, coastal tourism, and ocean sports, sensitization and education, data. exploration, and ocean plastic circular economy, since its inception in 2020.
The third edition of the acceleration program, which will run from mid-July through the end of February 2023, seeks to advance ocean-impact companies by increasing their visibility, innovation, and financial capacity.
This year’s pan-African program will be a hybrid affair. The program will kick off in mid-July in Cape Town with an in-person boot camp that will include coaching sessions on access-to-market, investor preparedness in the impact space, and pitch feedback sessions.
The accelerator will host the fourth edition of Ocean Innovation Africa, an international summit committed to supporting innovation and entrepreneurship in the African ocean region, at the end of February 2023.
The firms chosen for the acceleration program will have the chance to showcase their innovations, pitch their businesses, and network with possible investors, policymakers and corporations working in the ocean innovation field during this event.
Upon the completion of the program, the chosen candidates will be invited to join OceanHub Africa’s alumni program, where they will receive fundraising, business development, and networking assistance.
