The Director-General, National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), Mallam Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi, has clarified that the new technological advancements as witnessed in Nigeria and other parts of Africa in recent times will drive the 4th industrial revolution in the country and the continent.
According to him, technologies such as Artificial Intelligence and Robotics are going to play a significant role in the 4th industrial revolution.
The DG made this declaration while delivering his goodwill message at the National Engineering Conference and Annual General Meeting organised by Nigerian Society of Engineers, (NSE), at the International Conference Centre, ICC, Abuja.
This year’s conference tagged: “Engineering Education and Lifelong Learning Opportunities for Sustainable Development” was attended by quoted names in the technological space and industry giants in Nigeria and across borders.
In his message, the DG went down memory According to him, the entire continent lost out and could not maximize the first and second industrial revolutions.
He added that concerted efforts must be made to make the most of Artificial Intelligence, Augmented Reality and other technological breakthroughs as we approach the fourth industrial revolution.
NITDA as an Agency is preparing Nigerians to be more aware of digital technology.
To further demonstrate the Agency’s resolve to drive this digital adoption, the Honourable Minister for Communications and Digital Economy, Dr Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami) commissioned the first National Centre for Artificial Intelligence and Robotics in Nigeria, which was a solely NITDA project.
