Leading technology media, CFAtech and Nigeria Internet Registration Association (NiRA) have partnered with AppasaBusiness to sponsor Nigeria’s first Software Summit which will hold on Thursday, 31 August 2017.
The summit which is organized by AppasaBusiness will involve many innovators and developers pitch their idea at the e-Library Complex, IBB Way, Uyo, Akwa Ibom, which would prompt entry into IMHub Nigeria.
The summit which is themed “Economic Diversification, the Role of Software” will have in attendance, the Minister of Communications and Technology, Barrister Adebayo Shittu, Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Udom Gabriel Emmanuel, decision makers in industry, innovators, government officials, mobile network operators, mobile payment service providers, tech enthusiasts and government agencies.
Last week, in a statement seen by CFAtech, the Minister endorsed the summit and will keynote the event.
He said: “The aim of the event which is targeted at young programmers and software enthusiast to have the opportunity to pitch their ideas to attract potential investors.
And have a mentorship program that will ensure that their raw talents are translated into a marketable product that can compete globally.
The Minister also assured that the government would do everything within its power to support such initiatives that would advance the growth and development of the ICT industry, especially in the area of software development in Nigeria.
A few months ago, AppasaBusiness, Nigeria’s first of its kind, had announced this event, an accelerator model for startup and intending tech entrepreneurs, focused on addressing challenges of financial sustainability of tech start-ups in Nigeria.
Speaking ahead of the event, Emmanuel Etukudo, Head, AppasaBusiness, he said the event is expected to pull ten pitches, N1, 500,000 cash prize for three winners, more than 1000 young innovators, software developers and startups across the globe with industry leading CEOs who will serve as speakers.
“The one-day idea pitching session will hold at Ibom e-library complex, Uyo capital city of Akwa Ibom on 31st August 2017, with media coverage on local and international channels as well as social media platforms,” he added.
