It has come to the public notice of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) that some individuals in Nigeria are illegally using GSM Boosters.
Interested individuals who desire to use the GSM Boosters are advised to do so in conjunction with licensed network operators as that is the only legal way.
What are GSM Boosters? They are devices that can transmit and receive telecommunications signals which thus can make them interfere with other radio frequency equipment.
NCC is bringing it to the notice of the members of the public that willful interference with any wireless telegraphy is an offence under Section 16 of the Telegraphy Act, 2004 as the Commission will not take lightly any act of breach on this part of the law.
In a statement signed by Dr. Ikechukwu Adinde, Director, Public Affairs, NCC, monitoring mechanisms have been put in place and anyone caught using GSM Booster without obtaining approval of a duly licensed network operator will face arrest and prosecution.
Any member of the public with useful information regarding the illegal use of GSM Boosters should contact the Commission on 09-4617000/7351 or send an email to [email protected]
