The Nigerian Communications Commission participated in the 39th Kaduna International Trade Fair, a long held tradition of the NCC in order to interact with Consumers of telecommunications Services as well as to inform and educate subscribers in order to protect them against sharp practices in the industry.
Amina Shehu, Deputy Director Corporate Planning and Strategy at the marking of the NCC day welcomed participants on behalf of Professor Umar Garba Danbatta, Executive Vice-Chairman/ CEO NCC, informing them that we are using this opportunity to interact, inform and educate you on consumer rights and priviledges in order to protect you against sharp practices in the industry.
Danbatta, speaking through Amina Shehu further informed participants about the 8-Point Agenda of the Commission and the achievements made since the declaration of the year 2017 as Year of the Nigerian Telecom Consumer. Also the EVC spoke on the Do-not-Disturb 2442 Code to address unsolicited SMS, the NCC 622 Toll Free Line provided by NCC to escalate complaints and non-harmful radiation of Mast and Towers,
Lawal Umar Mayere, a Council member of the Kaduna Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture spoke on the economic and social benefits of Kaduna Trade Fair and expressed gratitude at the Commission’s participation and marking a day to inform and educate consumers of telecoms services.
Abdullahi Maikano, Director Consumer Affairs Bureau represented by Ismail Adedigba, Deputy Director Consumer Affairs re-affirmed the Commission’s commitment and determination aimed at ensuring that Consumers remain educated and informed in order to get best value for services subscribed to, urging them to provide feedback.
The day also featured an entertainment moment of cultural dances.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Reuben Muoka, Head Public Relations at NCC.
