After taking over Nokia Lumia, Microsoft has unveiled a new phone that will be powered by Android operating system. Android, which is a product developed by Google, has been one of the principal rivals of Microsoft’s Windows Phone operating system. Now, it is out that Nokia X2 developed by Microsoft will be running on android.
Earlier in April, 2014, Microsoft finalized its takeover of Nokia’s handset division at a cost of around 7.4 billion dollars. With the Nokia X2, Microsoft seeks to attract users by offering attractive cloud-based services. To this end the device will come with several pre-installed cloud apps.
Microsoft, producing this Android-powered device seems to be a move that will profit not only Microsoft, but also benefit users who may not be into Windows phone. Again it seems that Nokia is having problems competing with Android mobiles based on the performance of the Asha line of Nokia products.
