As we set to celebrate International Women’s Day on Monday, March 8, 2021, and also appreciate the African women in the tech space, we have come up with a list of the top African women in Data Analytics.
Henrica Makulu (Zimbabwe)

Henrica is a graduate of Applied Mathematics with a passion for data science, she is currently a Data Analyst specializing in automated analytics dashboards at Cassava Smartech, a leading technology solutions provider in Zimbabwe.
At Cassava Smartech she is involved in extraction, validation and preparation of data for descriptive and prescriptive analyses of various business problems for both internal business units as well as external clients ranging from automation of reporting dashboards to data classification solutions.
She is involved in using data analytics to enhance more-informed business decisions in Zimbabwe.
She is experienced in business intelligence and end-to-end analytics from data extraction to visualisation using analytics tools including but not limited to SQL, Python, Qlik Sense, PowerBI, Tableau, MicroStrategy, Python Programming, Active Presenter.
She has demonstrated success in implementing numerous automated dashboards, communicating insights and training end-users with the goal of driving self-service analytics.
Henrica hopes to change the way data is utilized not only at a national level but globally. She has a zeal to tackle the ‘mental-block’ often encountered by women in mathematics.
She hopes to broaden her horizon as a thought leader in data science.
Dorine Nalo (Kenya)

Dorine is a Digital Transformation Consultant and a motivated business leader.
She has more than 12 years of experience in technology-enabled enterprise change management, driving business readiness for programs and digital transformations.
She has served clients various industries including but not limited to Public Sector, NGOs, Banking, and others across Africa through designing Digital Transformation Strategies, supporting technology implementations and process improvement initiatives.
Dorine is skilled in applying innovative “people-focused” methodologies that enhance the employee experience and improve the adoption of process and technology changes.
Dorine engages businesses and IT customers to translate business priority into action through data analysis.
Her other key competencies asides Data Analytics include Information Technology Strategy Development, ICT Policies and Procedures development, Information Systems Audits, Robotics Process Automation and System Post Implementation Reviews.
Primera Muthoni Waweru (Uganda)

Primera Muthoni is a Product Specialist at MTN Uganda.
She has managed consumer and business product design, roadmap delivery and life-cycle management for more than 10 years.
Primera is also a specialist in human-centered design.
When Primera was a little girl, she enjoyed the challenges of figuring and creating lots of little things.
She grew up to become an engineer and somewhere in the middle of the journey, she discovered user experience, product design and product management.
Primera loves the challenge of managing the innovation process and delivery of superior products that contribute to the strategic success of companies.
She currently manages a portfolio of over 30 products & services and putting my creative effort into the design and development of existing and new consumer and business products.
Her other specialties asides data analytics include Product management and UX product design.
Abigail Ngwenya (Zimbabawe)

Abigail is a certified Certified IBM Solution Architect. She has worked at UZCHS-CTRC/ITECH, Zimbabwe as a Monitoring and Evaluation Assistant where she administered entry stream testing analysis tools, as per SOP and tally.
She is currently the Facility Data Collection Focal Person at International Training and Education Center for Health (I-TECH)
Emelia Abena Tuffour (South Africa)
Emelia is a Business Analyst at RubiBlue Information Technology Solutions (Pty) Ltd. She is experienced in the information technology and services industry.
At her present place of work, she is involved in providing a link between the company, customer, the development team and any third-party regarding system functionality.
She achieves this through:
- Gathering and analyzing user requirements,
- Project management of internal and external projects – analysis, planning, scheduling, implementation, testing and delivery
- Testing – system/software and mobile app development, queries, change requests and enhancements
- Identifying and implementing required resolution steps for resolving any data issues
She is also skilled in Databases and Project Management Body of Knowledge
