One might ask, Is intranet still important as organizations utilize new technological solutions to efficiently interact with and engage employees?

Let’s start by understanding what an intranet means. Intranets are private networks that corporations use to transmit communications only to their employees, and they’ve been utilized for internal communications for years.

Today’s modern intranets can also be referred as Employee Experience Intranets. While the internet can be accessed by the general public, an intranet can only be accessed by employees of the company that owns it

Employees primarily use intranets to find information, communicate throughout the organization, and manage workflows.

Intranets appeared in the 1990s at the same time as the internet. The distinction between the internet and an intranet is quite easy: while the internet is a general network that is not controlled by any institution, an intranet on the other hand is privately owned and not available to anyone who has access to the internet.

Its solutions are always evolving to keep up with the latest trends, providing functionality and significance.

They’re simply one of many tools in the digital workplace. Collaboration technologies such as Slack and Teams, cloud-based productivity solutions, and classic corporate software are among the others.

Are Intranets still relevant?

If you’re wondering if intranets are still important, consider this: If you want to increase internal communications and productivity among staff, you should probably consider adopting an intranet. so the answer is yes.

Corporations have been using the technology for years to increase employee productivity through better communication and faster access to essential company papers.

In addition, as technology advances, more businesses are turning to intranet options to keep their employees informed.

A modern intranet provides employees with not only the resources they need to do their tasks but also a special experience and information about the company.

Employees should be able to go to the company’s intranet to get the current internal information and updates, interact with coworkers on various projects, connect socially with coworkers, and locate the resources they need to execute their jobs.

Employee experience is prioritized in its design, making it simple for employees to find what they need.

Furthermore, because the modern intranet is purpose-built, it can be implemented quickly, allowing it to meet the needs of employees more quickly.

In terms of efficiency, a modern intranet requires less training because it is simple for staff to update and manage over time.

As a result of smartphones, employees may access their intranet at any time and from anywhere in the globe. It is critical for its success to have a mobile-friendly version.

A mobile intranet is essential for promoting employee engagement and ensuring that staff has constant access to the most up-to-date information.

Modern intranets provide features that make employees’ jobs easier and less stressful. They provide employees with quick access to critical information and corporate policies without requiring them to ask a manager.

Employee engagement and satisfaction can be easily measured using the intranet. Employee engagement is critical for retaining talented staff, so it’s critical for a business to stay on top of it.

Also, because an intranet is a restricted, private network, it is less vulnerable to external attacks. This gives a company piece of mind by ensuring that critical business data and documents are kept secure.

The workplace has evolved in lockstep with technological advancements. Remote work has recently risen to prominence, necessitating the use of intranets, which are effective tools that promote corporation-wide interaction, boost employee experience, and increase productivity, making them incredibly important in today’s workplace.
