Imo State Joins The Fray; Slashes Right Of Way Fee To N145 per meter

Imo State has joined Ekiti State, in slashing down the Right of Way fee. Sen. Hope Uzodimma, the Imo State Governor, in a move, similar to that, taken, by Dr, Kayode Fayemi, the Ekiti State Governor, also, signed an Executive order to reduce the Right of Way, (ROW), fee, for broadband fibre to be deployed in Imo State.

This was contained in an Executive Order, Number 002, 2020, issued by Senator Hope Uzodinma, Governor of Imo State.

This reduction, will see the Right of Way fee, paid by telcos in the State reduced, from N4500 per meter, to N145 per meter.

This was made known in a statement, signed by the Imo State Commissioner for Information, Declan Emelumba development.

“The reduction was a manifestation of the state government’s determination, to spur the telecommunication companies to further invest in broadband infrastructure and trigger ancillary on-line services, especially, in the field of education”, explained the Commissioner.

“We hope the drastic reduction, from N4500 of the broadband ROW, to N145 per line meter of fibre, will accelerate the deployment of affordable and reliable modern, high speed connectivity, in the state” he stressed in the statement.

The Executive Order urged telecommunication companies, to note that, the State plays host, to a vibrant youthful demography, located in many tertiary institutions, who form the bulk of the end users of their products.

It is hoped that more States, will follow suite, by reducing the Right of Way fees, in their various States to N145 per meter.
