Imisi 3D has opened applications for the 2020 AR/VR Africa Hackathon with the aim of developing an African Extended Reality ecosystem and enable AR/VR creators.
The hackathon which is open to participants in all African countries will hold in two stages – Online (August to November), and Offline with a Finale in December.
The First Stage
This is the online stage and it is open to all applicants across Africa. It entails the learning opportunities and virtual challenges from organisations around the world.
At the end of the online learning process, selected teams that qualified for the grand finale will move to the second stage.
The Second Stage
This is the grand finale and it will hold offline across 11 countries in December 2020 for a duration of 48-hours (2 days) straight.
The 48 hours hackathon will hold in 11 African countries which include Nigeria, South Africa, Mozambique, Egypt, Kenya, Cameroon, Tunisia, Ghana, Rwanda and Senegal.
The Hackathon will hold for from 5:00 pm on 4th December 2020 to 5:00 pm 6th December 2020.
Winners will be announced thereafter and prizes distributed at all levels bringing an end to the 2020 edition of the Imisi 3D 2020 AR/VR Africa Hackathon.
Once registered, applicants will be given access to the AR/VR Africa Discord platform where they will have further access to online learning materials, mentors, workshops, and masterclasses from global experts, and sponsored challenges from organizations across the world.
Selected teams stand the chance to win over $20,000 worth of prizes.
The first position goes home with $10000, the second position $6000, while the third position bags $4000.
Two exceptional teams will also get Unite Europe event tickets.
