Hellocater, a Cameroonian startup has launched an online platform for catering services in the country.
The online platform serving as a marketplace would enable individuals and organisations connect with dependable restaurants and caterers.
The startup itself was launched in June this year and has listed caterers for various types of events which include funerals, birthdays, weddings and other ceremonies.
Hellocater would provide alternatives for its users based on previous client reviews.
Currently operating in two cities, Yaounde and Douala, the startup aims to extend its operation to other cities in the country in a couple of months ahead.
Hellocater currently operates on zero charges but will soon commence charges on bookings made via its online marketplace.
Jim Bakoume, Hellocater’s Co-founder said that the uptake hasn’t gone as expected but the online marketplace would reap its benefit has more people get to know about it.
“The major difficulty is to get good caterers listed on the platform. There are several caterers out there, but not all have good reviews. During our testing period, we worked with one caterer who earned US$20,000,” Bakoume said.
However, Bakuome feels that Hellocater as the potential to scale amongst the startup ecosystem.
