Ericsson has taken a step further in the advancement of the 5G technology by agreeing to acquire US-based wireless Edge WAN 4G and 5G enterprise solutions Cradlepoint with the aim of creating valuable new revenue streams for customers.
The plan will entail supporting 5G-enabled services for business organisations and further create a platform that will help bring in returns on investments across all the networks in use.
It was also projected that this plan will form part of Ericsson’s Business Area Technologies & New Businesses.
According to Börje Ekholm, CEO Ericsson, “the acquisition of Cradlepoint falls in line with our existing offerings and is key to our strategy of helping clients/customers improve and likewise grow the value of all their 5G network investments in our portfolio.”
We are well-positioned to further build on Cradlepoint’s leadership position which includes the Wireless Edge and the wireless WAN market.
Coming together with the aim to scale our market access and cement existing relationships with some of the world’s biggest mobile operators, we are making a strong investment strategy to create a supportive platform for our customers to grow in this exciting market.
I hereby extend a warm welcome to all Cradlepoint employees.” Ekholm concluded.
After the takeover of Cradlepoint by Ericsson, employees are welcome to stay and still work in the Cradlepoint headquarter located in Boise, Idaho.
Also speaking on this development is George Mulhern, CEO Cradlepoint, “We have successfully led the way in bringing the power of cellular networks and technologies to both public and private business organisations and improved the limits of traditional wired WANs.”
“Ericsson one of the leaders in the growth of 5G and this is a great match for us. I am very excited about this agreement as it will enable us to continue scaling and upgrade our business together.” Mulhern disclosed
