Cairo-based esports and tournaments startup, GBarena, has raised a six-figure Pre-Series A investment in its most recent fundraising round.
The funding round was led by key angel investors such as the HIM Angles VC network, Ahmed Aboudoma, and Kushal Shah.
According to GBarena CEO, Samer Wagdy, the startup will use the fund to develop new products and services like a digital store with a customized GBarena coin that will enable gamers purchase in-game products directly from the platform.
Sequel to the funding, Eng. Ahmed Aboudoma was also appointed by GBarena as its new Executive Chairman to set the key functions and provide top-level leadership and direction to the board of the company based on his 27 years of experience in the MICT industry.
Speaking on the appointment, Wagdy said, “It is an honour to have Eng. Ahmed Aboudoma is part of GBarena’s family as our new Executive Chairman’
We are looking forward to accomplishing more with him, as well as learning from his experience”.
Founded in 2016 by Mustafa Zaza and Bishoy Mesdary, GBarena is a fast-growing esports and tournaments platform that is supported by AUC Vlab based in Cairo.
It was founded with the aim of creating an online gaming community that connects gamers with tournament organizers while also giving tournament organizers a platform where they can seamlessly manage and organize their own tournaments.
GBarena combines a strong network of different eSports communities with a highly analytical tool that gives authentic value to its users.
Its complex data analytics provides its users an opportunity to generate revenue by enabling them reach their filtered target groups based on user behavior and demographics.
