Egypt-based health-tech and IoT solutions startup, Sotech, has a US$1m pre-seed round.
The funding round was piloted by a leading corporate investor, Al Raya Kuwaiti, and Innlife Investments.
Sotech plans to use the pre-seed funding to drive its scaling operations to 500 locations and expand its market beyond Egypt, into Mecca and Madina.
Sotech has great hopes of using its new technology to prevent, record, and curb infectious diseases by designing an integrated network for the millions of data sets that are gathered across the country.
Speaking on the startup’s strength, Omar El Metwally, Founder, Sotech, said, “In Sotech we believe we can be one of the weapons that can fight the pandemic and serious diseases through our smart technology, and reinvent one of the most effective marketing channels, the OOH, by having the best analytical solutions detecting behavior and way more insights making it a great cooperative channel with the digital channels.”
Sotech was founded in 2020 by Omar El Metwally and a group of Tech, Healthcare, and Marketing enthusiasts during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Sotech is focused on data collection, smart Internet of Things (IoT), data gathering, and transforming Out of Home (OOH) advertising to be traceable via a set of software solutions.
The data that is gathered by Sotech is to aid clinics in understanding the volume, flow, and demographic of its visitors.
This data is also linked to an advertiser dashboard on its app with the purpose of helping advertisers track the performance of their in-clinic ads.
By linking online campaigns with offline advertising, Sotech delivers an integrated collection of tech, hardware, tracking platforms and software.
Sotech is not only providing a profitable opportunity for advertising in the industry. It is also focusing on integrating Tech to prevent the next viral outbreak.
It believes integrating tech to create new approaches of data analytics could indeed be a great combatant against infectious diseases and other endemic outbreaks, despite the industry being underserved in digital transformation.
Sotech has over 200 clinics in Cairo and is currently expanding by about 60 more each month.
