Foodtech firm Brotinni, based in Egypt, has secured $600,000 in a Seed fundraising round led by Innlife investments to bring innovation to the meat business.

Dalia Abou Omar launched the company in 2020, and it provides a platform where clients can order meat and poultry goods and have them delivered on the same day. It asserts that the farmers it collaborates with provide the items it sells directly.

A “dark butcher’s” concept that serves as fulfillment centers for its e-commerce platform was recently introduced. It intends to use the additional capital to grow its logistical crew, a network of dark butchers, and technological investments.

With the fulfillment of its “dark butchery” model, the first of its type in Egypt and the broader Middle East and North Africa region, Brotinni just built its first warehouse to serve its clients in Cairo and assure smooth product flow and quick shipping (MENA).

To grow up and meet the requirements of a wider segment of prospective consumers, it further wants to maximize the storage spaces, in response to demand.

According to Dalia Abou Omar, the local food and grocery delivery market has grown significantly over the past few years, but the raw meat delivery market hasn’t really received enough attention.

By fully controlling the cold chain and supply chain activities that underlie the meat delivery process, we hope to alter the user experience and shape the future of the meat ordering industry with Brotinni.

The firm, she continued, is overjoyed to have received its first round of funding, which will allow it to scale operations, substantially spend in marketing to raise awareness, and increase the number of its fleet to meet customer demands for speed and accuracy.

According to Abou Omar, they are recently working on producing vacuum seal bags that may prolong the shelf life of fresh meat by up to 45 days, in keeping with their objective to create a moat for their business in the rapidly expanding foodtech market.

The startup’s website and mobile apps are accessible on both Android and iOS devices, and users can place orders there. Additionally, across its domestic market, its products are offered on a number of the top digital grocery ordering platforms.

Techbuild’s Take

Due to the growing popularity of this field, food technology is currently in the limelight. The food and agricultural industries are the largest on the globe.

The potential for using technology to enhance food is enormous and expands to enhancing food consumption and reducing food waste, which is essential for reducing the negative environmental effects of an increasing number of people.

Several businesses are investigating how to handle, package, and distribute this fresh generation of sustainable, healthful, and inventive food, while others concentrate on the food itself. The sub-segment of food tech known as industrial food tech concentrates on resolving basic business models and B2 B-specific problems in the food industry.

Innovations in unique processing and packing techniques as well as new ingredients with superior nutritional, branding, or composition characteristics, which is what Brotinni is all about in the meat industry—are among the businesses represented.
