Maybe you do not know this, but there are a couple of factors that combine to slow down your device after a few months of usage. Here are some reasons behind this and what you should do to improve the situation:
- The first reason is that you may have used up a substantial part of the storage space of the device or there may, in fact be no more storage space! One mistake many people make is that they waste no time in using up all the storage space on their device, leaving no space for other system functions like Compulsory background activities, Updates, Cache and the likes. When, therefore, the storage space of your device becomes full, the processing time increases and your device becomes a complete drag, taking forever to perform certain functions. One recommended solution is for you to free up some storage space, especially that of the phone and move some photos and videos to an external storage or to the cloud.
- Virus and malware can negatively affect your phone’s speed. There are a number of ways in which you can know if it has been affected and this includes looking at your data usage records periodically. If you notice some unusual increase in usage, then, you should dig further because some viruses are actually designed to drain your data. It is all part of the game. Also, unwanted adverts and popups are pointers for you to know that you have been infected. I experienced that recently and in order to solve the problem, I simply did a factory reset, though a painful process, but it is one that I rather deal with than having to battle with virus and malware. You should also have a good anti-virus installed on your device.
My point is that, dealing with issues of virus and malware will speed up your phone considerably.
- Another factor responsible for slow phones and tablets is simply “unwanted apps” – OH MY! Many of us are guilty of this, including yours truly. We sometimes get inflicted by some sort of app download bug that nudges us to download loads of both useful and useless apps. At the end of the day, we use only less than 10% of these apps, but the reality is that they all combine to make our phones buggy, heavy and ultimately slow. Solution: Do an Apps check and get rid of apps that you do not need.
- If any of the above reasons is not the reason for your device responding at a slow rate, then, your device might be suffering from old age. It may be that the old operating system on your device is finding the new apps tough to deal with. If you think that is the situation for, then, it is time for you to get a new device!
Do you have any device that has been irritatingly responding at a slow rate recently? Try out some of the solutions above and let us know how it goes.
