Professor Umar Garba Danbatta, the EVC/CEO of the Nigerian Communications Commission, NCC, has been reappointed for another 5-year term to head the Commission, by President Muhammadu Buhari.
Danbatta was reappointed, on the recommendations of the Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Dr. Isa Ali Pantami and in accordance with the NCA Act, 2003, which allows for a second term tenure for the EVC/CEO of the Nigerian Communications Commission.
This was disclosed in a Press Statement released by the Spokesperson to the Honourable Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Federal Ministry of Communications and Digital Economy, Uwa Suleiman.
This statement revealed that the reappointment of Prof. Umar Garba Danbatta for a second term, was in an effort, to consolidate the gains made, in the telecommunications sector, in line with the National Digital Economy Policy and Strategy.
While wishing Professor Danbatta the best, the Minister encouraged him to, significantly, improve on the overall performance of the Commission, as well as, ensure that, adequate mechanisms are put in place, to facilitate the implementation of all the policies of Federal Government, through the Ministry.
Furthermore, the Honourable Minister enjoined him, to ensure that, the interest of telecommunication consumers, Nigerians and investors, are adequately protected.
This is wishing Professor Umar Garba Danbatta well, as he prepares to direct the ship of the Nigerian Communications Commission, NCC, for another 5 years.
