Mass Media will remain central and strategic stakeholders to the Nigerian Communications Commission, NCC.
This was stated by the Executive Vice Chairman/CEO of NCC, Professor Umar Garba Danbatta, in his remarks,
while receiving a delegation of the the Management of National Economy, a media organisation, who paid him a courtesy call at the Head office of the Commission in Abuja.
He explained that there is no gainsaying the fact that the Commission, by virtue of its regulatory activities in the telecom ecosystem, occupies a strategic position in the official architecture instituted to enhance national
economic development. He, therefore, stressed that NCC remains irrevocably committed, to deepening its already established relationship with the media.
He stressed that the Commission recognises the role of the mass media in attaining the successes of the Commission.
He noted the cordial relationship of that has existed between the Commission and the mass media over the years and stressed that the Commission will never take the media for granted will not act in any manner that may disrupt the relationship.
The cordial relationship between the Mass Media and the Commission, he stressed, has eased the Commission’s burden in putting its activities in the public domain and this has enhanced its efforts, in enlisting the support of
other key stakeholders in the telecom ecosystem.
The EVC/CEO, thanked the Mass Media for its superlative response in reporting telecoms, with special emphasis in reporting the Commissions contributions to the Nigerian GDP, particularly the significance of the telecom
sectoral feat in taking Nigeria out of recession.
He also noted the work of the Mass Media in projecting the processes of deploying the 5G network services in Nigeria and especially, the successful auction of the 3.5GHz spectrum for the roll out of the 5G services.
Danbatta finally urged journalists and other communication professionals, to amplify the Commission’s voice, in publicising and sensitizing the citizens andall stakeholders on the importance of the new generation network, towards the economic development of the nation.
