COVID-19 cases have hit One Thousand And Ninety-Five, (1,095) in Nigeria, with an additional One Hundred And Fourteen, (114), positive cases recorded. as at the time of this update, by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, NCDC, around 11:30 pm yesterday, Friday, April 24, 2020.
The update, also, indicated that Two Hundred And Eight, (208), cases, have been discharged to date, while Thirty-Two, (32), deaths have been recorded as a result of COVID-19.
From the update, Lagos State recorded Eight, (80), new cases, while Gombe State recorded Twenty-One, (21), new cases, with the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, recording Five, (5), new cases. Zamfara State, joining the fray, recorded Two, (2), cases yesterday, same as recorded by Edo State. Ogun, Oyo, Kaduna and Sokoto States recorded One, (1), new case each.
The distribution of the One Thousand And Ninety-Five, (1,095), COVID-19 cases in Nigeria, shows that, Lagos State has recorded Six Hundred And Fifty-Seven, (657), cases, while the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, has recorded One Hundred And Thirty-Eight, (138), cases, with Kano State recording Seventy-Three, (73), cases.
Ogun State has recorded Thirty-Five, (35), while Gombe State has recorded Thirty, (30), cases, with Katsina State has recorded Twenty-One cases, and Osun State recording Twenty, (20), cases.
Edo States have recorded Nineteen, (19), cases, while Oyo State has recorded Eighteen, (18), cases, with Borno State recording Twelve, (12), cases.
Akwa Ibom and Kwara States have recorded Eleven, (11), cases each, while Kaduna State have recorded Ten, (10), case, while Bauchi State has recorded Eight, (8), cases, with Delta State recording Six, (6), cases. Ekiti State has recorded Four, (4), cases, while Ondo and Rivers States have recorded Three, (3), cases, each.
Abia, Enugu, Jigawa, Niger, Sokoto and Zamfara States have recorded Two, (2), cases each, with Adamawa, Anambra, Benue and Plateau States have recorded One, (1), case each.
Zamfara State recording its first Two, (2), cases, brings the number of States, (the Federal Capital Territory inclusive), to Twenty-Seven, (27).
Meanwhile, there seems to be no end in sight yet, for the relaxation of the lockdown, going by what Dr. Chikwe Ihekweazu, Director-General of the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, NCDC said, when he stated that, it was not yet time to relax the lockdown,
“We will, eventually, exit this stage and re-start our normal life, but that stage is still a while to come and I ask for your endurance, support and patience. Lots of efforts are going on, across the world, to find new therapy, to find vaccine”, he stated at the briefing on the COVID-19 update on Friday evening.
