LTE phones are gaining popularity and with the Alcatel OneTouch Pop Star LTE, Alcatel is trying to cover the price conscious customers. Alcatel Onetouch Pop Star LTE is a successor to Alcatel Onetouch Pop Star (3G Only) and an entry-level phone with an eye-catching design and some pretty decent specs for the price range. Alcatel Onetouch Pixi 3 is also another Alcatel phone that we have reviewed in the recent past.

Looking at the specs indicate a lack of Java, NFC and screen protection, but considering the price, we think these can be easily ignored and most people will not need them anyway. Some may object to the relatively smaller battery capacity, but it should be enough to last a day on low to average usage.
Design and Display
Alcatel Onetouch Pop Star LTE follows the same design philosophy of Pop Star and offers a fresh, bright and colorful look. The back cover is also available in different colors to suit everyone’s taste. The back is made out of a synthetic leather material which not only looks cool but is also comfortable to hold and it is not too slippery. It is equipped with a 5-inch display @720X1280 with a pixel density of 294ppi. Although it may not please people accustomed to Full HD displays, it should still suffice for most user’s needs. Adding an extra screen guard like a glass protector is highly recommended as by default, the display has no special screen protection like Gorilla Glass.
Camera, Video Recording and Memory
The Camera, as expected in this price range, is neither outstanding nor too bad. It can take high-resolution photos, but lack detail when the lighting conditions are not perfect. The front facing Camera delivers better results considering the price and it delivers better results than most other phones in the same price range. Although, 8 GB may not be enough for many users, they can easily expand the memory, using cheaply available microSD cards. The Android Lollipop also runs fine on the Quad-core processor combined with 1GB of RAM.
Connectivity and Communications
Pop Star LTE has got us all covered when it comes to connectivity and communications. Almost all the major frequency bands are supported and users can enjoy lightning fast data speeds using LTE. Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Hotspot, Wi-Fi Direct, GPS are the standard features and included in the package.
Conclusion
Alcatel OneTouch Pop Star LTE balances the price and features just right and delivers a good bang for the buck. While it may not be a perfect phone for demanding users, it packs enough power to satisfy most users’ needs. LTE support usually does not come cheap and those looking to enjoy LTE at a reasonable price may find Alcatel Onetouch Pop Star LTE a good option.
