African startups are invited to apply for the UNICEF Innovation Fund. The fund is aimed at making up to $100K for tech companies at the early seed stage in equity-free investments.
Potential startups seeking to apply must demonstrate the ability to support humanity in one of UNICEF’s program countries while also showing a working source prototype that can deliver results.
Established by UNICEF, the Innovation Fund is solely focused on funding early-stage Open Source technology solution that supports children.
UNICEF aims to identify cluster programs focused on developing technology so that it can share market and also promoting these innovations for the overall benefit of children globally.
The program seeks to invest in African startups that are creating software solutions through deploying data science technologies, machine learning and, artificial intelligence in the following areas:
- Creating platforms for personalized services or offering tools to enable decision-making and automation
- Creating tools in optimizing system performance to enable service delivery
- Creating new insights from data generation
- Curating and generating data for all the aforementioned
