The Africa-Europe Innovation Partnership (AEIP), an initiative created in 2019 and funded by the European Commission Directorate-General for Research and Innovation to help introduce and develop quality tech startups from Africa and Europe, as well as provide opportunities for tech hubs from both continents to relate, collaborate, exchange ideas, and grow through mutually beneficial partnerships.
It recently launched a scheme called Cleantech thematic challenge where Startups from Africa and Europe can get matched to develop solutions similar to each other in order to accelerate the collaboration Africa and Europe has when it comes to renewable energy and decarbonised energy production and transmission.
The objective of the Cleantech thematic challenge is to connect innovative startups from Africa and Europe that are developing related Cleantech solutions to not only boost but sustain the efficiency of renewable energy.
- The challenge is open to startups in Africa and Europe working on Cleantech solutions- carbon capture, renewable energy, and energy efficiency.
- Cleantech startups interested in partnering with startups or scale-ups from other regions.
- The AEIP team will endorse matched African and European startups to develop cutting-edge Cleantech solutions, as well as introduce them to corporate organisations in both continents that can mentor them.
- In addition, this corporate support will afford the successful startups opportunities to collaborate and also explore new markets.
