Windows 10 only displays the account that one sets up for first-time use. The operating system, however, creates two other accounts automatically. These are the Guest account which is limited in various ways and the Admin Account for administrative purposes.
The administrator account, in this case, is not a user account but a rather elevated built-in account. To activate it:
- Search cmd on your device
- Right click on Command Prompt when the results are displayed
- Select ‘run as administrator’
- Run the command “net user administrator /active:yes” This activates the admin account. To enable a guest account run “net user guest /active:yes” command.
The admin account is now active but not password-protected. Anyone can, thus, log into it and alter the system. To add a password to it:
- Run the command “net user administrator *”
- In the password prompt that comes, type your preferred password.
If you wish to disable this account, simply run “net user administrator /active:no”
To disable the guest account, run “net user guest /active:no”
