In most cases when we find ourselves in a social gathering, we become so awed and anxious to interact. The case is exacerbating when it deals with addressing the public in a social event.

To put just, whenever there is the fear of interaction with other people that brings on self-consciousness, feelings of being negatively judged and evaluated, and, as a result, leads to avoidance, we are said to have experienced social anxiety.

Naturally, for most people standing in front of a group or a crowd could be a harder task than to lynch someone. Without mincing words, there is always an adrenaline rush; you experience some mysterious feelings within your subconscious mind. Does everyone feel this way when they face the crowd? For some people “No,” for most people “Yes.”

The focus here is addressing the public by dealing with social anxiety. Here are some apps that you could leverage to deal with public speaking

4 Apps that help you Deal with Social Anxiety

Pro-Metronome(Android & IOS)

One discredit you can get as a nervous speaker is when you dabble into your presentation and do a rushing job. Speakers that know their onus do not rush, they are calmer, and their nerves are relaxed.

Although the Pro-Metronome application is specifically designed for artists, it’s usual beat could help you in a long way to practice your speech. Not rushing will also keep you calmer, which is ideal while up in front of a crowd.

It also has a vibrate function which allows you can put into your pocket before you start speaking and use it to dictate where are exactly in your presentation.

Cardboard (Android)

You can use using your smartphone and Google’s very cheap Cardboard headset to run this app.

This app is sole to get your feelings, nerves and anxiety under total control. Before making use of this VR application, you should have done some practice; this would allow your presentation to be more interactive.

VR app will give you more of a feel for how it all will look when you are presenting. You take you presentation slides and put on the virtual screen and give your presentation to a VR audience listening to every word. For those in Nigeria, you can place an order for Google Headset, if you can’t find it in stores.

Ummo (IOS)

Ummo is one of the best coaching applications; it can help with your presentation practice and rehearsals.

What Ummo does is to help you record and transcribe your speech when you are practicing. It highlights when you use filler expressions. Filler phrases or words like hmm, you know, sometimes questions the credibility of a speaker and often makes presentations annoying if overused.

Although, they are the natural pause, and its continuous usage makes you not to realize you’re using them.

However, the essence of using Ummo is to get full control of your speech and immediately fish out when you are likely to use filler expressions.

Prompster (Android and IOS)

Prompster could be accessed through your smartphone or tablet, you can easily recall and remember any lines of your presentation, even if you are a sensitive type of speaker, it would be difficult for you to fumble.

Also, do not be tempted to cluster your visual presentation with lots of text. It can be tempting to add too much text to your slides to give you the confidence to be able to remember everything you want to say.

When you are using Prompster, the risk is that your eyes would be glued to the screen instead of the audience and that could be an impediment to a good presentation

In conclusion, I would say technology is just an ultimate kind of innovation. Hope you find this helpful.
