About the Awards
In line with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDG), Ashden International Awards seek to support enterprises and initiatives that provide innovative climate solutions, thereby improving the social, economic, and environmental conditions of the planet.
Having been in existence for over 20 years, the awards aim to identify, showcase, and fund the next climate solution winners, enabling them to grow and scale up their impacts globally.
What are the categories of the Ashden Awards?
Note that while some categories cover low- and middle-income nations, others focus on the UK.
For the international category, awards will be given in the following areas:
- Energy access innovation
- Humanitarian energy
- Natural climate solutions,
- Sustainable cooling in informal settings
In the UK category, awards will be given in the areas below:
- Climate innovation in the UK
- Greener communities
- Green skills
Who can apply?
- Businesses, charity organizations, governmental bodies, and other social enterprises are invited to apply. Work must be currently available to beneficiaries, clients, or customers.
- Awards are open to applicants in low- and middle-income countries, as identified by the World Bank.
- The awards for green skills and green communities are open to working in the UK.
- The award for climate innovation in the UK is open to working in Britain and Europe
What’s the value of the award?
- Prize funds of £20,000 for each of the ten winners;
- International, national, and local publicity;
- Support to grow through professional mentoring, training, and introductions to
investment and other finance providers; - Opportunities to present your work to large and influential audiences at the Ashden Awards Ceremony, International Conference, and other Ashden events;
- Access to a community of Ashden Award-winners.
