COVID-19 cases recorded in Nigeria, stood at One Thousand, Nine Hundred and Thirty-Two, (1,932), as at 11:50 pm yesterday, according to the update released, by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, NCDC, on Thursday, April 30, 2020.
This was after carrying out tests, on Fifteen Thousand, Seven Hundred And Fifty-Nine, (15,759), people in the country. O
The update, also, showed that, Three Hundred And Nineteen, (319), cases have been discharged, while the number of deaths recorded have, also, risen to Fifty-Eight, (58). This means that the number of current active cases, in Nigeria stands at One Thousand, Five Hundred And Fifty-Five, (1,555).
There is no denying the fact that, the result of testing only Fifteen Thousand, Seven Hundred And Fifty-Nine, (15,759), out of a population of about Two Hundred Million, (200 million), people, in Nigeria, in the last two months, does not give a fair representation of the situation with COVID-19, in the country, as many people still need to be tested.
The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, NCDC and other relevant authorities, should make, getting many more people tested, a priority, to ensure a fair representation of the results of those tested and to ensure that, the situation does not get out of hand, especially, now that the lockdown is about to be relaxed.
The update, also, showed that, the new cases recorded, include, The update shows that, the Two Hundred And Four, (204), new cases, showed that, Kano State recorded Eighty, (80), new cases, while Lagos State recorded Forty-Five, (45), new cases, with Gombe State, recording Twelve, (12), new cases.
Bauchi and Sokoto States recorded Nine, (9), new cases each, while Edo and Borno States, recorded Seven, (7) new cases each, with Ogun and Rivers States, recording Six, (6) new cases each.
Akwa Ibom and Bayelsa States, as well as, the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, recorded Four (4), new cases each while, Kaduna State recorded Three, (3), new cases, with Delta, Oyo and Nasarawa States, recording Two, (2), new cases each. Kebbi and Ondo and Kebbi States, recorded One, (1), new case each.
There are, only, two States; Cross Rivers and Kogi States that, have not recorded any COVID-19 cases, in Nigeria, since the first case was recorded.
