One Hundred And Seventy-Six, (176), new COVID-19 cases, were recorded in Nigeria, on Saturday, May 16, 2020. This is according to an update from the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, NCDC.
This, now brings the total number of COVID-19 cases in Nigeria to Five Thousand, Six Hundred And Twenty One, (5,621), while One Thousand, Four Hundred And Seventy-Two, (1,472), cases have been discharged, with One Hundred And Seventy-Six, (176), deaths recorded.
The number of active cases in Nigeria, going by the update, is Three Thousand Nine Hundred And Seventy-Three, (3,973), cases. Only Thirty-Three Thousand, Nine Hundred And Seventy-Three, (33,970) tests have, so far, been carried out in Nigeria.
The One Hundred And Seventy-Six, (176), new COVID-19 cases new cases recorded, shows that, Lagos State recorded Ninety-Five, (95), new cases, while Oyo State recorded Thirty-One, (31), new cases, with the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, recorded Eleven, (11), new cases.
Borno and Niger States recorded Eight, (8), new cases each, while Jigawa State recorded Six (6), new cases, with Kaduna State recording Four, (4), new cases.
Anambra State recorded Three, (3), new cases, while Bauchi, Edo, Nasarawa and Rivers States, recorded Two, (2), new cases each, with Benue and Zamfara States recording One, (1), new case each.
Meanwhile, Lagos State is set to begin clinical trial treatment of the COVID-19, using Chloroquine, this week.
This was disclosed by the Lagos State Commissioner of Information and Strategy, Gbenga Omotosho, in an interview monitored from Punch online.
We are ready for chloroquine clinical trial, because we have just secured all the approvals.
The documentation has, also, been completed. Those that will be used for the trials are ready too. By net week,(i.e., this week), we should be ready for the trial”, he was said to have assured.
